Jamie's Italian, Cambridge

One of Britain's best-loved celebrity chefs, Jamie Oliver, now has ten Italian restaurants nationwide, but it is hard to imagine that any of them have as impressive a location as the one in Cambridge. The refurbished Guildhall, a grade 2 listed building, has been stunningly decorated to create a lively and enjoyable dining experience. Busy chefs work in the periphery behind shelves of authentic Italian delicacies and prosciutto, and the waiting staff are friendly and professional. The menu offers a rich selection of real Italian specialties, from world-famous pasta classics, like Bolognese and Carbonara, to the lesser-known, but equally delicious varieties like Ascolana olives and buffalo mozzarella. They don't take reservations, so it is just a case of turning up and hoping for the best.
