Overview
The building of the church was financed by Yolande Marie Louise Lyne-Stevens, a celebrated ballerina who had danced at the Opera in Paris and Drury Lane in London. Construction was completed in 1890, the result being a neo-Gothic design with a 214 feet (65.2 meters) spire. The church is decorated with stained-glass windows and murals, many depicting English Christian martyrs, in addition to a 16th-century wooden statue of the Virgin Mary.
