The beautiful East Neuk coastal region of Fife is just half at an hour's drive from Dundee. Anstruther is one of the fishing villages that make up the East Neuk community, and the museum is located on the quayside at Anstruther Harbour. Established in 1969, the museum employs an extensive photographic archive, 15 full-size vessels, an impressive collection of model boats, paintings and numerous personal testimonies, to narrate the 400-year old story of fishing in this region. Moving into the private sphere, there is also a representation of what a fisherman's cottage looked like during the late 19th Century. Complete with tea-room and gift-shop, the museum is the ideal place to form an in-depth impression of what life was like in the East Neuk over the previous four centuries.
