This deceptively simple restaurant in the City is a great place for a break. On warm, sunny days the front of the restaurant opens out onto the pavement. There's a glass skylight in the middle of the dining room and the rear of the restaurant looks out onto the field of the Honourable Artillery Company. The food is British with French and Italian elements and comes in generous portions - you might think of limiting yourself to a main course to avoid late afternoon slump. Starters include deep fried brie and baked layers of aubergine and mozzarella; the main courses are lighter but just as good - try the grilled calves' liver or the escalope of chicken. This place is also open for groups in the evening and, if already booked by a group, will serve individuals, too.
