Aglio e Olio, London

From outside, Aglio e Olio (which means garlic and oil) looks rather unassuming, yet the food they serve here is first rate. Only a handful of tables fit into this narrow oblong restaurant and, aside from a large orange picture, the decor is pretty much an all-over grey. Fresh flowers in the toilets are a nice and unusual touch for a reasonably low-budget restaurant. The pasta is very good indeed, which is just as well since the menu largely consists of pasta dishes. The tagliatelle with black truffle oil and porcini is divine and the Parmesan and rocket salad is exceptionally fresh, and very good value.
