This is a great place to bring a crowd of friends to celebrate any occasion - sparkling wine and a cake are complementary if you're celebrating a birthday. Book the Chapel - the highest part of the restaurant, almost suspended in air - for a special occasion, and do so some weeks in advance. The decor is strictly gothic - the face of a bearded man holds the fireplace in his mouth, while visiting the toilets is more like a trip to some ancient dungeon (they're at the end of a subterranean, stony-walled, winding passage). Have an aperitif at the bar and warm yourself by the fireplace before escaping over the drawbridge to the restaurant beyond. The seasonal menu is competent - Saturday and Sunday lunches offer a decent brunch menu.
