Cantinetta Venegazzú, London

Cantinetta Venegazzú doesn't bother with any of this light Italian cuisine nonsense; it serves unashamedly traditional Italian dishes and attracts plenty of local Italians, a sure sign that the food's good. Come here for fresh seafood served with pasta. Unfortunately, the wine list is quite limited. The decor is elegant, with dark marble floors and a few mirrors around the restaurant. It's quite a small restaurant, and when it's not particularly full, this may leave you with rather too much attention from the staff. The best time to visit the restaurant is in the summer, when all the restaurants in Battersea Square set up tables outside; in winter, the atmosphere can seem a little stark.
