Tucked away behind Angel station among rows of beautiful Regency terraced houses, the Charles Lamb is a pub worth knowing about. Off the main drag of Upper Street and Essex Road, it doesn't usually get filled to the brim with red-faced drinkers. Add to that clean, simple decor, benches that catch the rays on sunny afternoons, gastro bar snacks, top quality gastro grub and even a pub dog; it is not hard to see why this corner pub is a local favorite. The wine list leans toward fine French numbers, many sold by the glass as well as handy carafes, while real ale aficionados will delight in the wide selection available.
