Furnival Gardens, London

This small slice of green peeks out from the northern bank of the Thames across to leafy Barnes. It may be petite but it's beautiful, with striking views of the river and the green and golden span of Hammersmith Bridge. The park attracts office workers seeking a tranquil lunch spot, cyclists and joggers, as well as locals escaping the hustle and bustle of Hammersmith. With herons flying low over the twinkling river and the houseboats bobbing around Dove Pier, it is easy to see why. It has three great riverside pubs including the famous Dove Inn and is also home to Furnival Sculling Club.
