Wood paneling and Victorian gas lights are some of the fixtures from the past, still retained by the Hat and Feathers. But the grub is more contemporary, salmon with bonito potatoes, duck salad with orange truffle and candied fennel, all come with variations much different from their yesteryear counterparts. The dishes can be savored on the first floor; meanwhile, you may dig into fish and chips on the ground floor. Till your food comes along, look for pegs to hang your hats on.
