At first glance, the Man on the Moon looks like a rather bland pub with not too much going for it except for a very friendly atmosphere. Look closer though, and you'll discover that the upstairs of the building is home to an ancient theatre with one of the most eclectic programs you'll ever see. From Twelfth Night to comedies involving budgerigars, the ever-changing listings attract a different group of Time-Out readers every week. Performances take place twice every evening on Tuesdays to Sundays, and occasionally you can catch a Monday night comedy show, although age restrictions can apply to some shows. You wouldn't expect a fringe theatre in this area, but The Man in the Moon does qualify as an arty venue that emphasizes British work, new writing, a range of classic revivals and controversial plays.
