The Marquee Club was founded in the the late 1950s by Barbara and Harold Pendleton. Since its opening Marquee has offered a platform to various rising stars, few of whom are well named artists today; The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols and many others. They allowed different genres of music to be performed on their stage; Rock, Blues, Jazz, Punk and Heavy Metal. The Club has been recognized as 'the most important venue in the history of music'. Living up to this adage the Marquee continues to promote emerging artists.
