Get a load of some jazzed-up sushi and sashimi at Mika, located in famous Notting Hill, close to North Kensington. The canteen-style layout may act as a put-off, but those brave enough to delve deeper are rewarded with sumptuous fare from the land of the rising sun. The traditional meal of Dom Buri; rice, dashi, meat and veggies; is enormously satisfying; should you choose this option, a follow-up trip to sample other selections from the menu would be in the offing. A typical Japanese lunch is incomplete without miso soup, rice, noodles and the tongue-tickling pickles. Fresh fish and vegetables arrive daily from the nearby markets; the Kabayaki eel deserves special mention.
