Popular Cafe (The), London

This workers’ eatery is a typical British cafe, with extremely friendly staff adding a special touch of North London hospitality. It serves everything from generous helpings of mousaka to British classics like Shepherd’s Pie accompanied by heaps of vegetables, alongside staple dishes like ham, egg & chips and burgers & salad washed down with tea, juice or coffee. While the food may not be Michelin-starred; it’s tasty, filling and good value. Guests eat at a bar by the window or at little tables and there is also some outside seating for sunny days. It’s a great place for a no-nonsense meal in well-healed Whetstone.
