Rasa is, quite simply, one of the best Indian restaurants in London. This small restaurant was the first of the Rasa family and can be found glowing pink and gold on Stoke Newington Church Street in north London. Not the easiest to get to but worth the effort, especially as its sublime vegetarian food is outstandingly good. These sumptuous dishes from Kerala use subtle layers of flavors to bring out the best in the vegetable they showcase. The cheera parippu shows a softer side to spinach, its greenness cloaked in fragrant lentils; in the bagar baingan the aubergine sits back and lets the diner enjoy the soft creamy waves of subtly spiced sauce. These dishes paired with tamarind or lemon rice or a chewy paratha are unusual, excellent and eatable.
