Overview

Since it was founded in 1799, The Royal Institution has had a long and fruitful role in scientific research and education, both in the UK and throughout the world. Lectures, seminars, meetings and other events take place here all year round. The RI has been home to many of the great scientists of the last 200 years. The Royal Institution also houses a restoration of Michael Faraday's laboratory and a museum displaying much of the apparatus used by Faraday during his life at the RI.
