Bolton's museum houses a quirky and unique variety of exhibits in its collection that melds art and history. These include examples of major British archaeological finds and rare Egyptian artifacts. The gallery boasts paintings, sculpture and contemporary ceramics amongst its permanent exhibits and hosts regular one-off, community and touring exhibitions. There is also an aquarium where living exhibits are on display, such as reputedly the oldest living piranha fish in the world. There is also a small gift shop on site selling prints, postcards and other memorabilia.
