Sometimes referred to locally as the Chorlton Meadows, this large expanse of greenery comprises Chorlton Ees, which includes pasture, woodland and ponds, with habitats for warblers, orchids and bats. The landscape is punctuated by the River Mersey and its man-made tributaries and brooks. Public footpaths criss-cross the area and some are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, while others attract joggers and mountain bikers. Main access is from Brookburn Road, Chorlton, where a large, free car park is situated. Additional routes are available from Ivygreen Road and Hardy Lane.
