Reform has had a turbulent history over the last few years. Always renowned as one of the glitziest restaurants in the city with a clientele of Manchester United football stars and Coronation Street actors, it went into receivership for a short time before being taken over by the Hale Leisure group and restored to its former glory. The exterior is low-key, with a relatively anonymous polished brass nameplate and smoked glass doorway leading to the decadent Victorian opulence within. The original club was designed in the Venetian Gothic style in 1871 and many of the original features, including a beautifully ornate carved ceiling, still exist. The French-influenced food and drink offered is of high quality but is expensive, although you can enjoy great lunch options.
