Banjos, York

Long established, Banjos lies between Lendal Bridge and York Minster. It's an unassuming place serving a fairly standard café menu, with the emphasis on good value for money; the portions are a good size, and no one leaves still feeling hungry. For little ones, there's a children's menu, too, with ample but not overwhelming plates. Don't expect many culinary surprises, but what they do, they do very well, especially the traditional English fry-up breakfast. Banjos also offers cooked lunches, as well as sandwiches of all kinds, both hot and cold, to eat in; if you can find a table or take away.
