Melton's Too, York

Melton's Too, the more casual brother of the upscale Melton's Restaurant, occupies three floors of a 17th-century building, offering menus that are a mix of the comforting (ham, eggs and chips, for instance) with the more innovative, created by proprietor Michael Hjort. Wherever possible, the food is locally sourced, with sources named on the menu. The lunch and early dinner menu offers excellent value, although the table needs to be vacated by 8p. The restaurant caters for parties and seasonal events and has four festivals a year, celebrating different foods. The ground-floor bar at Melton's Too, as well as serving food, is an excellent place to simply relax after a long day.
