York Baptist church was built in 1868 by architect William Peachey. As with many of the city's churches it is rich in history, for in 1873 the pastor of the church, Frederick Brotherton Meyer, invited American Evangelist, D.L. Moody, to preach there. Of particular interest to visitors, especially Americans, is the leather-topped table around which Moody and other leaders of the mission prayed.
