Overview
A bat cave is located on the grounds of the former NASA tracking station, which is now a medical school in the Picadilly area. It is a most fascinating place. The large cavern houses thousands of common bats, which when disturbed, fly around in a frenzy. Local myth had it that you could walk form Antigua to Guadeloupe from the caves. But, this may just be a myth as the trek alone would be worth an entry to the Guinness Book of records. A Smithsonian team studied it in the 1950s. Now it is possible to visit but you must stop and ask for permission to enter the property.
