Café Johnny Canoe, Nassau/Paradise Island

Bahamian culture, in all its boisterous, brightly colored glory, is celebrated at this wildly popular Cable Beach restaurant, located in the Nassau Beach Hotel. Guests come for a taste of Bahamian food and they stay to party, Bahamian-style. The menu offers grouper, conch, lobster and other island favorites. Prices are reasonable. On Friday evening, the restaurant has Junkanoo performances every hour or so. Junkanoo can best be described as a Bahamian celebration that features elaborate costumes, relentless drumming and wild dancing. The main Junkanoo celebration happens around the New Year. Smaller performances happen all the time throughout the islands.
