All cruise ships arrive at the Prince George Dock, which is in downtown Nassau. This is a large wharf able to handle up to 12 cruise ships at a time. Once off the wharf you may be surrounded by vendors, taxi drivers and tour guides all offering their services. However most of the duty-free shopping, casinos and historical landmarks are all within walking distance. A Ministry of Tourism Office just outside the terminal has walking maps of the city and other information. Next door to the dock is Rawson Square, which has a number of shops, restaurants, salons and boutiques. Close by is the famous Straw Market, another excellent spot for shopping. If your time is limited hire a horse-drawn surrey or cab to explore the island. Ferries to nearby Paradise Island leave directly from the cruise pier.
