Overview
The Dauntless Tomb Memorial is located on the grounds of the St. Matthias Church in busy Hastings. The name "Dauntless" refers to the HMS Dauntless, a wooden frigate that sailed to Barbados in 1847 with a crew that either died or suffered from the effects of yellow fever. Those that perished were buried in the southern area of the cemetery at St Matthias Church with a prominent tombstone provided by the Royal Navy in memory of its beloved marine officers. -Nadia Ali
