Overview
The Holetown Monument marks the 1625 landing of the British in Holetown, Barbados which was once named Jamestown after King James I of England. The monument is a white, square-based pyramid with a plaque detailing the event. Today, there is an annual celebration known as the Holetown Festival, which takes place at this site and consists of a week's worth of Caribbean festivities with colorful street parades, steelbands and a general carnival atmosphere. -Nadia Ali
