Neighborhood: St Thomas

Unlike its volcanic neighbors, Barbados is formed from coral limestone. When it rains, the water seeps through the limestone, resulting in a large number of underground caves and streams. Jack-in-the-Box Gully is located in the central parish of St. Thomas and was formed by the breaking off of the limestone cap in the area. Moreover, a natural rain forest has developed within the gully, along with many species of indigenous plant life. Limestone formations can also be seen throughout the gully. Furthermore, a walk through this gully is for the adventurous while its in its natural state. You can see it from above by taking the Aerial Trek Zipline Adventure Tour. -  Marsilyn Browne
