Overview

Alligator Pond is neither a pond nor a place where alligators gather. It is the name given to the longest fishing beach in the parish of St. Elizabeth on the southern coast of Jamaica. Here, fishing is not a past-time but a means of living. By mid-afternoon people start gathering on its shores to greet the fishermen who arrive with freshly caught fish. Take a stroll down this endless, natural beach, which is fringed by swaying palm trees and soft Caribbean sand. -Nadia Ali
