Overview

At the eastern entrance to Kingston Harbour, you will learn about the serious studies underway at the university's marine lab. Marine biology and ecology, aquaculture, fisheries and coastal management are all practiced here. The centre was founded in 1955. At the time, it was a single, small room in the Old Naval Dockyard. Over the years, it has blossomed and now occupies "Crab Hall," a one-acre site at the Navy Hospital. For additional information on Marine Sciences or to schedule a visit, contact the lab.

Great experience. Very informative about the work being done for the marine life in Kingston harbor. Our tour guide was researching the birds while another person is working with re-establishing Mangroves around Jamaica and another member is researching the seahorses found in the KIngston Harbor. Extremely child friendly and focus driven tour for school age students. Children get a hands on expericence when they are able to touch different sea life in the laboratory. Highly recommend for any age. Great education for the efforts of recycling and reaching out to the community about liter and how it destroys the environment....   Read More
