Overview
In 1754, the British War Department purchased land at the Up Park Pen estate to provide shelter for the British troops dying from yellow fever. This area is now the site of the "married quarters," Briggs Park, the Bustamante Children's Hospital (formerly the British Military Hospital), and the National Stadium. The Camp is headquarters of the Jamaica Defense Force. This 90 hectares site is picturesque. Visitors to the Camp can tour the Forces Museum as well as the Information Centre.
