Overview
About a week before Christmas, Puerto Vallarta streets are filled with La Posada, candlelight processions that recreate the biblical story of Mary and Joseph's fruitless search for lodging. Groups of men, women and children follow along as the couple knock on doors, asking for entry and are turned away each time. Traditional songs are sung at each location. Businesses, private homes and hotels host parties during this period as well.
