Overview
This is a good vantage point to view the devastated capital, Plymouth. The long deserted town, destroyed by the eruptions of the Soufriere Hills Volcano in 1997, has since been inundated by mudflows, gradually burying many of the buildings. You can also look down on the Belham River and Golf Course, now covered by mud brought down from the volcano during heavy rain. The road is quite rough towards the top of the hill; a four-wheel drive vehicle with a driver or guide, and binoculars, are recommended. Note that visits to the devastated area itself are strictly forbidden, and this rule should be respected.
