Overview
This lovely stone building, on the site where American statesman Alexander Hamilton was born, is a re-creation of an earlier building dating back to the late 1600's, supposedly destroyed by an earthquake. It's a simple structure, with a wonderful walled yard and a nearby view of the sea. There's a double staircase leading to the second story where the Nevis Island Assembly meets. The museum is a good introduction to the island's history and culture, and provides information about the life of Hamilton as well as Nevis in general. Admission to this museum (US$2) also gets you entry into the Nelson Museum at the opposite end of town.
