The Society is a non-governmental organization established in 1989 for the purpose of promoting St. Kitts' natural, historical and cultural heritage. It is a member of the Caribbean Conservation Association and the Museums Association of the Caribbean. This office showcases photographs depicting the culture and the people of St. Kitts, along with many historical documents. There are photos of marine life and the society's endeavours to protect the turtles, the salt ponds and the rainforest. Many books are for sale ranging in topic from the Caribs to books discussing local plant life and vegetation. The Society is presently establishing a natural museum in the historic Treasury Building.
