Overview
The West Indies are known for the sugar plantations that once thrived here. In St. Croix there are several that are scattered all over the island. The Estate Canaan was one of the plantations that was established around the 18th Century. Though the production of sugar has stopped here, the estate continues to draw tourists because the 12-acre (4.9-hectare) sprawling grounds are used for nature trails, hikes, and other adventurous activities. Do pay a visit to Estate Canaan when in town, and discover how the island’s past has been molded into its present and future.
