The show begins. A troupe of fasil(traditional Türkish music) singers in red fez hats start the music, then step aside to greet a strange-looking procession-a half marching band and half harem girl dışplay led by a tubby beturbaned sultan. The parade snakes almost blindly through the popping camera flashes to the stage, from where the performers treat the eagerly waiting crowd to ten minutes of clashing cymbals, synchronised aerobics and artful languishing on throw cushions. After an interval of eye popping belly dancing, protesting members of the audience are dragged on-stage to wiggle their hips as best they can. This is quite possibly as kitsch as Istanbul gets! The cost of dinner covers the show and unlimited drinks. Negotiable rates are available for groups.
