Located above The Burly Earl Bar near the university of Alabama at Birmingham and its medical center, La Cocina is one of the oldest and best Mexican restaurants in Birmingham. The décor is very simple with tables and booths along a large picture window facing Seventh Avenue, making it a good place to watch the crowd go by. The food is very tasty and comes in large portions. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is easygoing.
