Lou’s Pub & Package, Birmingham

If you were to ask a Birmingham local to describe Lou's Pub & Package, they would most likely quickly mutter something about a liquor store with a bar in it, then flip the conversation into a detailed description of its hell raising and quick witted owner, Lou Zaden. Since first opening the pub and package in Birmingham's run down Lakeview district during the mid 1980's, Zaden has been apart of a revitalization in the area that many have called a renaissance. How is that possible? Many feel it has to do with Zaden's no nonsense personality and his penchant for treating all patrons equally as brash, regardless of the differences that may exist between them. After all, it's not the booze that makes a bar great, it's the people on the stools and the man behind the counter. Please watch an episode of "Cheers" if any of this is new to you.
