  • Day 1
  • 1 Drive to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim (about 75 miles away) Take advantage of some of the free Ranger-led talks for both adults and kids at the South Rim to enhance your experience. Eat lunch at the Bright Angel Restaurant right along the South Rim. Opt for the Santa Fe Lettuce Wraps.
  • 2 Drive back to Flagstaff’s Historic Downtown area for shopping, live music and people watching.
  • 3 Have drinks and relax on the balcony of the Hotel Weatherford.
  • 4 Dinner downtown at Criollo Latin Kitchen. Fish tacos are a must.
  • 5 Head to Lowell Observatory for stargazing on their telescopes and other astronomical fun.
  • Day 2
  • 1 Head to the Snowbowl for a hike and ride on the skyride with panoramic views of the area.
  • 2 Stop at the Museum of Northern Arizona for cultural, geological and historical perspectives on the area. Depending on your interests, this could be a quick trip or you could spend quite some time here.

  • 4 Drive out to Meteor Crater about 35 miles east of town or check out Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments northeast of town. You may be able to get them all in if you don’t take any guided tours and eat lunch early enough.
  • 5 Dinner at Josephine’s, Brix or Cottage Place for an upscale meal to wrap up your vacation in class (reservations are recommended) or, if you prefer a more laid back dinner, head to Fratelli for a pizza.
