The roots of this academic facility are based in the history of the Phoenix Union High School District, which established it in 1920. It has been in its present location since 1939. Now serving about 12,000 students a semester under the umbrella of the Maricopa County Community College District, it has come a long way since the first enrollment day, when the student body consisted of 18 scholars. The campus itself consists of 25 buildings on 52 acres in the heart of the Valley of the Sun. Proud of the cultural diversity and heritage of its student body, this facility has always established strategies to meet the needs of its students. The school offers AA, AGS and AAS certificates and degrees in a wide range of academic areas. It has received national recognition for many of its programs, which include dental hygiene, mathematics and administration of justice.
