After running the original Zur Kate in Hamburg, Germany for over a decade and a half, Gunter and Irene Krause came to the Valley in the mid-80s and opened this 'gast haus'. The place's name translates to "the old smoke house" and has the festive feel of a German country inn. The "best of the wurst" is bratwurst, weisswurst, knackwurst, plus a wide range of schnitzels and smoked meats (rippchen). Reasonably priced entrées and daily specials are featured in addition to an impressive selection of German beer.
