Overview

A Pizza haven, a bakery full of vanilla and chocolate smells and a bar fully equipped with some nice wines is what Amy's Pizzeria & Baking Company is all about. The restaurant has a very open, European kind of feel to it which makes for a comfortable place to munch on much-loved delights of pizza and pastries. This eatery also features some wonderfully baked cakes and other Italian dishes.

although I haven't been to Amy's, my friends in scottsdale have and had a miserable experience. I can't form a solid opinion by watching Kitchen Nightmares tonight, however, being a former server, I was appalled over Samy taking server tips for himself! Even if you are paying min wage, you have to PAY taxes on tips made. Most times, a server makes 2.75-3.80 per hour in my state. We LIVE on tips. People sometimes don't have a clue how much to tip. The avg is 15% over parties of 8. I always made over a hundred in an 8 hr shift. But we also cleaned carpets scraped gum ff tables, filled n cleaned salt n pepper shakers, got tables ready for next shift, rotated product, and tons more stuff diners don't realize we do to make our guests experience a good one. Our customers are gold to us and if they don't enjoy their stay, we never see them again. That's our livelihood. The.way Amy's treated chef Ramsey was horrible. It was hard to watch such blind owners be totally delusional with a world renowned chef! Nobu, wolfgang puck or giada couldn't make these people see reason. So very sad as Chef Ramsey has turned things around for so many. Maybe they were afraid of success?? My mom was a home ec professor, I was taught to cook by her. My husband is a cook, training to become a chef, and my friends are all well known chefs, restauranteurs, and foodies. We know food, service, and presentation. Our kids are spoiled from organic and home grown foods farmers markets, and fresh venison, pheasant, quail, wild mushrooms, beef, lamb, elk, chicken, eggs, etc. I make pasta fresh, bake bread daily, and plan balanced meals daily as we also have 4 type 1, diabetics in our house as well. I understand cooking and stress but if you enjoy and love food and pick it for your carreer, it should be fun even if you are getting criticized so you can be better. I feel bad for samy and amy for not being open to improvement. Where did she get her chef certification? Who did she intern under? I hope there's no more 'chef's' out there like her. Good in ya Chef Ramsey, for trying and giving it your best effort despite the way things ended. Good on ya....   Read More
