The historic tag's origin lies in the fact that many years back travelers in stage coaches would stop here and camp for the night. It is also interesting to note that you will be setting foot on a site which has been used for various film shoots. Think the 'wild wild west' and you won't be disappointed, so expect the cheap tobacco smoke wafting around as well. If you do find the Historic Reata Pass Steakhouse too stifling, then there is the open air Greasewood Flat, where you can grab a few drinks and party with the locals.
