Overview
A name that is of a quite revered status in the city, the Dreamland Ballroom is a heritage structure. The building in which the ballroom is housed is itself of prominence in the city. Known as Taborian Hall, the building was built in 1918 by Simeon Johnson for the organization, the Knights and Daughters of the Tabor. The ballroom came into existence around the early 1930s and by 1937, it became 'the' venue in the city, hosting such legends as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Count Basie. Today, the ballroom is being managed by the Friends of the Dreamland Ballroom organization and is a museum-cum-event-venue-cum-historic-landmark. A visit is sure to be intriguing for all.
