Machine Project opened in 2003 as a non-profit, educational arts organization. Today, it functions as a small yet truly ambitious space where art and technology unite, as do performance and community. As their affectionate website states, curious "scientists, poets, technicians, performers, and the community" at large can benefit from career- and vision-enhancing opportunities. Workshops and classes range from monster prop building to computer music gaming; there's also the occasional poetry reading and tabla class. Artists are encouraged to contact the venue for possible shows, especially if the pieces at hand include experimental music and/or avant-garde installation art.
