Located on the Malibu Pier, the Beachcomber has live music every Friday night and occasionally on Saturdays, too. The current house band, Pier Pressure, plays a mix of jazz and rock covers, and local musicians regularly show up to jam along with them. The band goes on at 7PM and plays only until 10PM. Sometimes, if the mood strikes them, they’ll unplug and continue to play acoustically for an hour more.

Open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and 1:30AM on Friday and Saturday, Moonshadows' Blue Lounge is one of the rare nightlife options in a town where most places lock the door at 10PM. Dim blue lighting, an outdoor deck that stretches into the Pacific and funky music spun by DJs give the lounge a relaxed, rich-kid vibe, particularly if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat on a chaise lounge outside. Dress up a little if you want to fit in, but never forget this is Malibu; pair the Diane Von Furstenberg with flip-flops.

This romantic Mediterranean restaurant is a perfect backdrop for a nightcap any night. But on Sundays, BeauRivage is magical. The Evening of Enchantment pairs David Minkin—in 2007 crowned the master of close-up magic by the International Brotherhood of Magicians—with a wine-tasting presented by Rosenthal Winery. The night begins with hors d’oeuvres and four generous pours of Rosenthal wines. (The winemaker is on hand to talk about each one.) A little fuzzier, you are then led down a candlelit stairway to the wine cellar, where Minkin performs two hours of mind-boggling magic—right in front of you.
