Tillie Gort's Cafe, Monterey

Consistently named "Best Restaurant for Vegetarians" by local publications, Tillie Gort's is a great place to hang out and enjoy fresh, healthy meals. Though the vegetarian (and even vegan) options are plentiful (don't miss the veggie-laden pastas or the "No Meat" Loaf), carnivores are looked after as well (chicken enchiladas or a cheeseburger with sauteed mushrooms ought to do the trick). Breakfast is popular, probably due to the alluring array of scrambles, omelettes and benedicts (not to mention the Artichoke Frittata or the Cinnamon French Toast).
