Overview

This 3000-acre San Onofre State Park is one of the five most visited parks in California. Surfers, bicyclists, hikers and campers are seen from beach to canyon. Sea lions, dolphins and whales are no strangers offshore. There are also a couple of endangered species in the wetland and San Mateo Creek. Campers are spoiled with two areas to choose from: the San Mateo Campground in the canyon, and the San Onofre Bluffs. A nude beach by Trail 6 at the south end of the San Onofre Bluffs has also been very popular yet controversial. But the most famous activity at San Onofre is surfing. Trestle Beach is the only stop in the continental USA for Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour. – Hoiyin Ip
