Overview
In the 1880s, the town site of San Marcos was established during completion of the railroad to the Pacific Ocean. This museum highlights local history including that original site plan, the development of the agricultural industry, the incorporation of the city in 1963, and anecdotal notes. Displays consist of photographs, Native American artifacts, newspaper clippings and other treasures from San Marcos pioneers. A gift shop on the premises sells fascinating books on local history.
